  1. 1. Among the many fields is district I only know a few, "Pinch-of-pepper's, "D.H's and "Patsy Butler's". They are called after their owners. Patsy Butler had his home situated in a corner of his field. His house was burned and sad to relate neither 'Patsy" nor his wife still exist.
    "Pinch-of pepper" is a nick-name that folks have on Mr. Callanan, of Friar Street. People called late Mr. D.h Ryan "D.h", for short. There is a well in Thurles named "Lady's Well". At the entrance to the well there is a big rock.
