    had to sell the corn to get money to pay the landlords.
    In the middle of the Summer 1,845 they noticed something wrong with the potatoes. The leaves were all withered and it was a "blight." Hunger came on the poeple and they had nothing to eat. Their story was nevr as bad as this time.
    The poor people were found dead on the side of the road and in the fields. Hundreds of poor people went into the "Poor houses". One thousand of them went to America and another million died. There was food sent from the lands across the sea to the people in
