chance which the white bear wanted, he crept softly out of his hiding place to where the fire was, and while the boy slept the bear crept over and over the fire until it was quiet black, and not a glimmer could be seen. "Good" said the bear to himself now I shall have peace and everything will nice and cold again. Saying this he shuffled off in this clumsy way chirp chirp said a cheery little voice close by and out hopped a little robin from his nest. He looked around and finding that the bear was gone flew down to the fire and was glad to see that there was one spark left in the fire, he flapped his wings over it to make it bright. Soon more sparks appeared and then a little flame which grew larger and larger. The robin had gone so near to the flame that his little breast was now scorched red and every robin in the world is marked the same way
