  1. There is a Castle in Coolbane which was built by the Normans. It is about two miles from Doon. There is a river flowing beside it and it is called the Toher River. There is a stone stairs leading to the top of the castle it is about 100 feet high. When O'Brien lived in it, the Normans came to have him executed. An order was given that all the bells should toll, all the people gathered round and men, women, and children armed with stones went to the top of the castle and they were victorious.
