Mountcollins is in the Barony of Glenquin.
Mountcollins got its name from a chieftain that was there long ago. It is also said that numerous families of Collins lived here. There is now but two families.Approximately forty families live there now and approximately one hundred and seventy persons live there.Lenihens O'Connells Brosnans and Quirkes and Sheehans family names most common in Mt Collins in order of number.Slate Iron and Thatch are types of houses according to number. Nine persons over seventy years live there.
