  1. Many games are played out in the open air in Summer, but in winter we have to use our fire-side ones.
The best game which we play out in the air in Summer is "The Ghost in the garden."
This is how we play it, first a stick is dressed in white and put standing in the middle of the garden and some girl stands hiding behind it.
Then one of the company would choose to be the mother of the rest and she would say to one of her daughter's
"Go out in the garden for your father's shirt."
She goes away for it, but soon returns running and very frightened and says, "There is a ghost in the garden.
The mother then gets vexed and scolds the girl for being so silly.
She sends two more but they return with the same story.
A few more will be sent and they return saying the same.
Then they will all go with her and make an effort to get the shirt but the ghost will hunt them all. The first who is caught must hunt with the ghost and all the rest must do the same when they are caught, until they are all caught.
    Then another ghost is chosen.
