    Tis now I am bound for a far distant shore

    By each crystal fountain my course to pursue
    Where the verdure of Spring and the heather flowers grow
    The milk maid sings sweetly in the valley below.
    Adieu unto Millstreet that neat little town.
    Of beauty, of honour of fame and renown
    Of home and prosperity and sweet unity
    There is a distant fond object that reminds me of thee
    That shore where the salmon and trout do be seen
    That washes the shores of Licrea and Dooneen.
    Now to conclude and finish my oration
    Far dearer to me is the whole Irish nation
    My home and my country my friends and relations
    Perhaps I may never behold them again
    For its o'er the Atlantic I am now going to see
    Freedom, prosperity and sweet unity.
