  1. There was a lot of fairies in the district long ago, they were very small men, wearing red caps, and, green jackets.
    Long ago, there were two men hacking with a pickaxe, and, they saw all the fairies around the pickaxes, they went to their dinner and they had half the field hacked, and when they came back to the field it was all hacked.
    Long ago there was a man named Dan Coughlan, and a friend of his went to watch a fairy one night, they caught him to take the money off him, and the fairy said Dan, Dan look behind you, and Dan and the other man looked behind them and as soon as they looked behind the fairy disappeared. There were four men talking together one night outside a liss in Sliabh-Ruad and the fairies came out and they called them in, they went in, and they had to creep on their face and hands
