    Tannery and weaving were the chief industries in Bandon about 100 years ago.

    Tannery and weaving were the chief industries in Bandon about 100 years ago.
    Behind the Convent ropes were made. The path going to the rope factory is to be seen yet.
    Near Convent Hill there was a weaving factory.
    Nails were made in Foxes Street, Gallows Hill, and Cork Road by Allman Brothers.
    Near Old Chapel there was a cotton mill where over 1,000 men were employed.
    Iron was moulded by Johnson at Weir Street over 50 years ago.
    Mason's weaving mill at the Distillery was opened over 40 years ago.
    The Bandon station was rebuilt 40 years ago by Sisk the builder of Cork. West Cork station was above the church. The two stations were not connected.
    In the Quaker's Lane (Factory Lane now) was the first post office known as Rowland Hill's post office. The entrance to this is still to be seen. Nearby Cromwell's soldiers guarded Cromwell while he slept in the house now occupied by Mr. Scott, South Main Street. Almost at the same place was the Corduroy factory.
    On market days baskets made by a man named Skuce from twigs grown at the back of the Shannon Street houses were sold where the butter market is held now. Griffin, the cooper, also
