    also had bag-race. Each boy had a bag and he stood in it. Then they stood in a straight line. They all ran off together for about ten yards. The first one who gets there wins the race.
    The boys played another nice game with buttons. Two or three buttons are needed for this game, but long ago they boys were not satisfied unless they had a big string of them. Each boy tried to have the most.
    In the Winter time or in the first of Spring most of the boys made "cribs" to catch birds. First of all they cut a bundle of rods and made a timber frame. Then they got a bow[?] a rod and a "gabhlóg". Then
