- I have heard a lot of funny stories but this one I am going to write about is very interesting. Some years ago a boy and his sister lived together in a house about three miles from Stoneyford. His sister was working with a farmer who was not living far from her house. She was agreat girl to work and she did all the dirty work.
Her brother had not seen her for a long time and was wishing to know how she was getting on. One day he decided to go and see her. When he reached the house he knocked at the door. The master of the house came out and asked what he wanted. The boy asked to know how was the "Milk-maid". The master got very angry and answered, "Our milk is not made' it is got from the cows". He closed the door in his face and the young boy went home very much disappointed when he didn't see his sister.Told byJack Dunne, 50yrs
