  1. There used to a fair held in a field belonging to Thomas Dywer. There was an old castle in a field at the other side of the road. The people used to slap their hand when a bargain was made. The halter was also given away with the beast. The animal was marked by cutting hair off the flank. There was luck given to the buyer.
