    We are told that the robin is Our Lord's bird. Wherever Our Lord went during His Passion the drops of blood were on the ground. In order to find Him the soldiers followed this path of blood. The little robin hopped before the soldiers and covered every drop of blood and that is how she got a red breast. The blackbird, thrush, wren, build their nests much the same, they all build in the hedges.
