  1. Long ago the old people in this district lived in mud cabins. Those cabins were built with mud and roofed with bog, dale, scraws and wattles.
    There were chimneys in some of them and in others there was a Poll-á-tighe or a hole in the roof.
    The fires were built along the wall or in the middle of the floor and the smoke went out through the Poll-á-tighe.
    Insome of those cabins there were windows, those windows consisted of only one pane of glass about one foot long.
