- There is a holy well on the shore of Lough Gill, Co Sligo. It is called Tobaranaltha [?]. The water gushes out into the well from the face of a cliff.
This well was blessed by St Patrick who baptized converts there.
In penal days when no priests could enter Sligo town, the water of this well was used in the celebration of mass, which was offered there beneath an old oak tree.
It is said that this well sprung up at the prayer of St Patrick when he was suffering from thirst.- Bailitheoir
