    They were dressed in a very

    blue cloaks fastened at the
    neck. As she saw them
    approaching the gate she
    told Michael that if they
    ashed him any questions
    not to answer them. When
    they came in they went
    straight into the room and
    spoke to Michael in Irish
    but he did not answer
    them. Then they turned to
    his mother and told her
    that they would not carry
    Michael but that they would
    carry his companion instead,
    who was working in the sail-
