- Most of the roads in my district are called lanes or avenues. Some of them are; Mill-lane, The Battered-lane, and Balheavy-avenue.There is one old bye-way about 1 1/2 mile from where I live. It is narrow and backward and no traffic travels through it. The name of it is "The Nunnery Lane".It is said that there was a nuns' convent at the top of this lane, and that there was an under-ground tunnel from the convent to Turvey where there was another convent.
