Everybody knows that the Holy Family Mary and Joseph and the infant Jesus wandered about seeking shelter from Herods soldiers on Christmas Eve night it is a custom in every home to leave the fire lighting and the candle or lamp lighting also, as it is believed that the Blessed Mother visits every home, many legenry stories are told of the Holy Family in every locality in Ireland, now I will relate some of those legenry tales told locally.
    In a village long ago it was an annual occurrence for a certain great man to visit the district every year, sometime before the time of his annual arrival a woman was cleaning up the house, scrubbing and washing and making great preparations for the arrival of the great man, one day one of the womans servants informed here that a beggar
