there is a portion of marshy land named west Curragh. There is a river flowing through the bog. It rises in Hynstown and flows through part of the land of Ring Commons which lies nestling in the shade of the hills of Knockbrack and Balrickard.
At present the houses in the vicinity of the bog are mostly new buildings except a few of them which is built by mortar. Our school is not the remains of one of the old hedge schools which were in great use during the "Penal Laws". Around the school are many different villages or townlands. The chief of them are Ring Commons itself, Delahasey, Balgee, Knockbrack, Walshestown and Balrickard.
The chief industries are agriculture, grazing of cattle growing of crops such as, Wheat, oats and barley and recently flax. They bring their own hay and potatoes. Some of them depend on a lorry while others goes on their own cart and sells their product to the Dublin market.
The "Bog" is noted for its famous shooting place and people comes from all parts to shoot in it. In Winter it is very wild and bleak but in Summer it is beautiful. The trees are in full foliage and the are in full blown and all the fields are green speckled with white daisies. It is indeed a beautiful sight to the eyes of the spectator.
