    from them people, and they made alot of money on them.
    A hundred years ago nearly half the families in the country lived in small mud walled cabins without windows or chimneys, and with the smoke coming out through a hole in the roof.
    They had scarcely any furniture in these miserable cabins whilst a little straw thrown over the floor served them as a bed. They had poor wages which amounted to fourpence a day in the winter, and sixpence a day in summer.
