  1. On the 28th of October 1927 Lacken disaster ocurred. There were nine fishing boats out from Lacken Pier. There were nine men on each boat. The evening being fine until an unexpected gale arose at half nine. Some of them had been ashore when the gale arose, while others had to fight that dreadful gale.
    Some of the men came in on oars while others climbed the cliffs. It was'nt known who came safe until five o'clock the following morning. The one crew which never came ashore was missing.
