  1. Once upon a time there was a man R.I.P. coming from Ballyvary fair after selling horses. He had to walk from Ballina to Summer Hill. It was late when he reached Killala. It could be about one o'clock. As he was coming along the road towards Cortoon Killala. He heard a kind of an noise inside the ditch. He only gave a side look and he thought it was a dog he seen. He didn't look any more, but he had enough to do to keep the hat on his head. He used to put up his hand to his hat to see if it was on his head. His legs was not bearly able to keep him up. He was that way until he came near a quarter of a mile.
He was drawing towards a house that was on the road side, and before he was as far as the house, there was a little river going under the road, and when he crossed the river, he got as strong, as he wouldn't go into the house.
