    all round but could not find him as only his head was over the water. The next morning a few men dug a cave in the bog for him. Father Cowley then went to live there and every morning and evening the people came with food to him. When the captain of the English soldiers came to Conmy's house and found the empty bed he said the nest is here but the bird is gone. Sometime after that they found the priest dead in the cave with his stole about his neck and his Breviary in his hand.
