    immediately. The blaze of the flax reached the roof which also burst into flames. In a moment the barn was a mass of flames, the wind blew the flames into the dwelling house which also caught fire .     A severe epidemic of influenza occurred in Glangevlin in October 1917. The severe weather during the year might be one of the causes. Soldiers coming home from the trenches of France may have carried the germs of this disease. Almost every family in the parish had patients suffering from Influenza. The schools had to be closed to prevent the spreading of the disease. A great many people died as a result of the 'flu.
    In the year 1900 the fever was very common in Glangevlin. A great many people died as a result of it. Often times six or seven of the same family would have to be removed to hospital.
