    About fifty six years ago there were frost and snow which lasted for six weeks. The ice had to be broken with picks and it was twelve inches thick. You could walk on the snow across big fences. There was a lot of animals lost. The sheep and cattle could get nothing to eat only as the people gave it to them. It was impossible for anyone to travel because the roads were very slippery. At the end of six weeks the snow and ice melted.
