- Travelling folk often call to our house and the houses in the district. Some of them are very poor and some are not so poor. They usually sell small articles, such as, bracelets, necklaces, safety-pins, needles, laces, thread and such things, which they carry in baskets on their arms. Some of them, mostly the "tinkers" sell tin-ware. The people buy these things from them. The tinkers make their own supply of tin ware. They generally stay for a few nights at a time and traverse the district selling their wares. They take their own food with them and encamp some where in the district. About two or three families travel together and they travel in caravans or carts drawn by horses or asses.
They come about five or six times every year and they also come around the local "pattern day" which is on the tenth of August every year. Pedlars often call to the house and sell clothes and sometimes people selling delph visit the district, but only very seldom.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
