- The study of the names of places in part of the country is very interesting.
The townland that I live in, is park. The townland got its name because there was a Deer Park there in years past. Part of the park wall is still to be seen.
There are fields in the townland that are called special names, such as, the Lios field. That gets its name because there is a Lios in the middle of the field.
Another field is called the Pond field that got its name because there is a pond in the field.
There is a rock in the River Bride called the blind rock and it is is a great place for catching trout.- Bailitheoir
