in the cradles instead of the babies. This happened to the Fortgrady woman. One morning when she was lighting the fire the baby was crying greatly and she brought the cradle up near her.
The child still kept on crying and his mother was so annoyed that she said "God knows Johnny, my heart is broken". The baby answered "God knows Betty, I will break it better for you".
The woman then knew that it was a fairy that was in the cradle and not her baby as she thought.
It died a short time afterwards.
