    east of Banteer Village, a pot of gold was supposed to be hidden by the Chieftain O'Callaghan when Cromwell was in the neighbourhood. It was searched for by local men but was not discovered. Acting on some information the Civic Guards paid a visit to the place too but nothing was unearthed.

  2. It is also told that a pot of gold was buried in "Daddy Morey's Castle" - a mound of stones on top of Mount Hillary not far from Banteer Village. The gold was supposed to be buried by "Dónal a' Chásga". A stick marks the place where it is believed to be but strange to say it has never been searched for.
