He sent another man in his place to ask the parents would they give their daughter in marriage to a man that sent him. The parents asked the name of the man and he told them. The man had a quart of whisky with him as usual. The parents agreed that they would. The man took out the quart of whiskey and gave a glass or two to the people of the house. He went on his journey and outside the house he met a man he knew from his own place. The man told him that he was going on a message for another man to ask a wife for him, though the other man never let on(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
