    connected with marriages and I suppose up to the present day some people have a bit of them.They always counted it very lucky something to get broken the day of the marriage.When the pair are leaving the house to be married it is a great custom to throw an old shoe after them for luck.
    Matches are made in this district but not any this year.The fortunes given are according to the means but it is generally money ,but a comfortable man gets a couple hundred pounds.To have a marriage in a house must be a very ancient custom for our parents don't remember them.
