The name of my townland is Corhanacloche and he name of the Parish is Inis Uí Crónán,but it is always known as Croisín which means "a little cross" .Long ago there was a cross at the end of the old road leading into the burial ground of Inish Uí Crónán.When a funeral used to be going in the people used leave the coffin in which the dead person used to be on the cross and say prayers for the repose of their soul ,so it derived its name in that way.
Ceatramhadh na Cloiche means stone quarter
.One part of it is very stoney,for long ago the people had no artificial manure ,so that they used to dig the scraw of the land and collect it into heaps and turn it .(continues on next page)
