  1. It was the custom in a certain district that everyone that would kill a pig would give a piece of it to his neighbours. There was a miserable man who didn't want to give any away. He asked the butcher how he would get out of dividing it. The butcher told him to leave the pig in an open shed during the night and tell the neighbours that it was stolen. The butcher said "nobody will be expecting any off you on that account". The man did as the butcher told him. The clever butcher came that night and stole the pig. So when the man rose in the morning the pig was gone. The next day the butcher called in and asked him how did he do.
    "Oh! he was stolen" says the man.
    Stick to that and you'll do" says the butcher as he walked away.
