- A few carpenters in this parish still specialise in wheel-making.
- Mary Carrol of Rath would dye her own wool and spin it. She would press blackberries till all the juice was out of them, and then she would put all the juice in a pot with the wool and boil them & then she would dye the wool.
- In former times Rafferty's of Tinkers Hill were great weavers.
- This is how they made candles. They used to melt lard and peel the rushes, and the pith that was inside the rush would be mixed up with lard, and then it was made into a candle, and then a dipped rush was used for a wick.
- An old man used to make baskets out of sally rods, and sell them to the people.
