  1. The present Corn mills in Inniskeen owned by Senator O'Rourke was once the site of an old barracks in the Penal Days.
At one time, their Captain was by the name of Sandersman. He did his utmost to put the Penal Laws in force.
The Parish Priest of Inniskeen had a horse, which took him on his Rounds, but this he was to be deprived of, and was offered the handsome sum of "Five Pounds."
    Father Ned refused.
    I say once.
    I say twice.
I say thrice or I'll shoot you.
The Priest jumped off and seized the Officer by the neck, who though defeated in his designs for the moment, still pursued his evil intentions. However, the Priest rode away and his hiding was kept a Secret.
For a period of Sixteen years, there was no (Public) Mass in Inniskeen until Fr. J. Ned's nephew, also Fr. Brian came to the district after his Ordination.
Fr. Brian cleared out some of the Priest-hunters, amongst them the then famous Norman Steele.
