    when John was swept away by a current. His companion did the best to save him but failed. Meanwhile the men came with the sheep and they were very much troubled when they were told the John was drowned. They did all in their power to find the body but failed. Then one of the men thought of an old custom to find a drowned body. They sent quickly to Mallow for Fr Ahern who happened to be a curate there at the same time.
