    Another custom is that a person would not give or sell milk to any one, they think that if they did they would give away their luck.
    On the first day of May all the girls gather together and play May pole.
    Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, when the season of Lent commences for forty days. It takes its name from an ancient custom of "shriving" or confessing as a preparation for the Lenton season; marriages often take place on this day, it is also called "Pancake Tuesday" from the custom of "Pancakes" being baked and eaten as a thanks-giving meal for reaching the end of the Winter season.
    Whit Monday is fifty days after Easter, and commemorates the decent of the Holy Ghost upon the Apostles in the form of fiery tongues; the custom of wearing white clothes on this day is observed.
