  1. About fifty years ago, John Murray and his sister went out about nine o'clock to look for geese found to be missing. As they entered a field a short distance from their father's house, they saw an old woman wearing a white cap sitting beside a cosy turf fire. When they looked closely at the woman, they knew that she was not of this world.
    Next morning they went to the same place, and found that there was no trace whatsoever of the fire. Lying in the place there was, however, a pair of tongs. They brought home the tongs with them and they were used in Mr Murray's house for several years. Mr Murray who related this story to me firmly
