   children put a money box in under the May-bush for to hold the money. The children usually look at May-bush, the next morning, and generally there are a few pence in the box which the children think was left by the King and Queen.

   Years ago there were people superstitious. That if you would lend an iron implement on that day that it would take their luck away. Such as lending money on a May-day it would take their luck away. The children would gather a bunch of May flowers on May-eve, and tie them to a stick and place the stick in the ground and have the flowers over the ground expecting to get money under them in the morning. One of the family in the house would leave sixpence under the bunch of flowers. The children would believe that it was the fairies.
