- The local fairs are held in Cavan and Belturbet. There is a fair in Cavan one a month and one also in Belturbet. The horses are sold in the horse fair, and the cattle and sheep are sold in the cattle fair. The pigs are sold in the pig fair. When the animals are bought, they are marked with a keel. Sometimes they are marked with dirt which is put on with the man's stick.
