- People still make & wear clogs about here. A man named Billy Vance makes the soles of them with wood & sews the uppers of old boots on to the soles.
Children still go bare-footed to school in Summer about here. In winter all the people wear strong boots & shoes, and some of them put hay in their boots to keep their feet warm. Some grown-up people go bare-footed here. One old lady called by the locality "The Lily Maguire" never wore boots or shoes winter or summer.
