- I do not remember the Great Famine in Ireland but the old people who remember it often speak of it yet They say the potatoes were not much bigger than marbles.
Some people kept the potatoes until the year after & they grew very big. It was in 1846-47 there is supposed to be another in 1946-47. The most of the people died with starvation. It is said that the people eat tops of turnips boiled in gruel.
