- There are a great many different lakes around my district.
There is one I know of which is well known.
It's name is Lough Gowna.
It is a lovely big lake. Out in the middle of it, there is an island. On the island there is a grave yard.
One story I heard about the grave yard was; when there is going to be a funeral a flag floats to the edge of the lake, and the people with the funeral and cofin float over to the grave yard, and when the funeral is over it floats back with the people.
Cavan side of there was an iron ore minde and iron ore was brought to the island in big boats and from the island to Gowna side.- Bailitheoir
