- There are names on nearly all the roads around the district such as the Pound road, the Bog road, the Wood road, and the Church road.
The Pound road gets its name from a village pound. It was an old road from Ballinalee to Granard. The Wood road gets its name from Kilshrewly wood. It is part of the main road from Longford to Cavan.
The Church road leads past St John's Church to Edgeworthstown.
The Bog road leads through lower Soran bog. It was made as relief work during the famine time.
