- A Folklore StoryMy father told me this story as follows:-A few years ago a man was going to midnight Mass in Newtownforbes.When he was going to a place called the swallow-hole,- an old swamp by the roadside - he heard a lot of splashing and the next thing he saw was a man dressed in white coming out of the swamp towards him.The man on the road said "good night" but he got no answer. They walked on as far as the convent corner and then the man disappeared.The other man was terrified. He walked on as far as the chapel and went into it.
