- About a hundred year ago there was a man living in Corrick named Mullen. He was six feet high and was very strong. He used to bring a sack of potatoes about three cwt weight on a wheel barrow from his own house to Athlone, a distanct of about thirteen miles. He would come up to Ballymore and bring home a two cwt bag of meal on his shoulder. He used to wet the meal in a can with goats milk and he would eat it like stirabout. The ruins of the house in which he lived are still to be seen.
