- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the brides parents gave a party to the married couple and it lasted for a day and night. It was called "The Visit Home" as on that day the bride went home for the first time since her marriage. On the night of the wedding also some of the young men of the district dressed up in fantastic costumes and they came to the wedding feast. They were treated to food and drink and very often they received a present of money. They danced and sang and they were allowed the privilege of dancing with the bride. They were called "Straw Boys" or "beggars" and in this district that custom is still carried on. There was also another custom for the parents to give the bride a fortune if she was going to live at her husband's house. Sometimes the fortune consisted of money and other times they stocked the land for her. On the other hand if the bridegroom was going to live at the bride's house he gave a fortune to the bride. The girl's cousins and all invited guests give a nice present each to the bride. Long ago when a boy and girl would be getting married each of them would go in his or her car.
