  1. John Kelly, Pat Bardon and Joe Coughlan were the only poets in Coralstown. John Kelly used to write rhymes for the party men about eighty years ago. Joe Coughlan used to write Charades for the Almanac. Pat Bardon who died a few years ago was the best of the poets. He used to write grand poems one of which was "The blackthorn of Ballymore."
    When St. Patrick came our land to bless
    He journey up and down.
    To sow the seed righteousness.
    In country, lane and town.
    And few were those who did oppose.
    The saving truths he taught.
    And countless spells and miracles,
    His doughty saintship wrought.
