    A bucket with the bottom out of it was placed upside down on a hole in the roof or sometimes they had wooden chimneys. Th eonly window they had was a small pain of glass that could neither open or shut. The walls were built remarkably wide often four and a half feet. They dug no foundation just simply put the clay on top of the ground. The walls varied in breadth and were anything but staright. The doors were very low and a person would have to stoop going in. People generally had a cow shed or pig sty built at the end wall of the house.
