- Long ago Saint Patrick's and Saint Brigid's Crosses were made and they are still made. Saint Brigid's cross is made with rushes woven together. They were made on Saint Brigid's Day and hung over the bed-room door. This was done in olden times but this custom is dying out at least in this part of the country.
It is customary now to make Saint Patrick's Crosses. These are made in the shape of a harp. There was apiece of card-board or stiff paper cut in the form of a harp or sometimes circular with a piece of green ribbon sewn around on it.
The harp strings are represented with yellow thread. These were worn on the feast day of Saint Patrick.
